Guillaume Gauthereau is a business leader, serial entrepreneur, and socially conscious activist. Ge recently founded the New York Bee Sanctuary, he was the co-founder and CEO of Totsy until April 2013, where he successfully raised $45M in 36 months, he led the company to become the second largest US private sale website dedicated to moms and kids, attracting over 3M members on the site, and earning a ranking in Forbes as one of the top 100 private most promising US companies.
Guillaume’s experience spans 15 years working in Executive roles with numerous companies in the retail & luxury industry. He was CEO of Lalique North America (and Lalique UK), where he held the distinguished honor of being the youngest CEO for an international luxury retail company. Prior to that Guillaume was General Manager of Louis Vuitton’s flagship Champs-Élysées store in Paris, where he managed a $150 million P&L and team of 25 people. As Founder and Chairman of Sequoia Lab, he implements growth and brand strategies for companies with a sustainable and socially responsible interest, and brands that have a higher purpose. His broad range of clients goes from large multinational companies to successful entrepreneurs and artists. His current board appointments include TOTSY Inc.; Grameen Bank America, BrickHouse Security, GustOrganics, Ayoka Productions. Guillaume has received global media recognition for his achievements. He has been featured on FOX News, CNN, CBS, CNBC, BFM, Huffington Post, The Independent, Forbes and Portfolio. He has been an invited speaker at elite academic institutions including Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, INSEAD Alumni and Parsons School of Design. Guillaume was named Foreign Trade Advisor by the French government in 2008. Guillaume has a PhD from the Ecole Nationale Veterinaire de Maisons-Alfort, Paris. These days he maintains a bee hive as a trained beekeeper, preserves endangered fruit trees in his orchard in the Catskills, and enjoys growing his own organic vegetables. |

Have you ever wondered if behavioral economics can be used to help design better financial products in the marketplace for low-to-moderate-income individuals? Are there models and best practices that could help consumers save money? What innovations in financial products can reduce debt? Behavioral economics is an exciting and emerging field that is informing the design of financial products. It is increasingly being used to study the effects of psychological, social, cognitive, and emotional factors on the economic decisions of individuals and institutions, as well as the consequences for market prices, returns, and resource allocation.

Anna Cash is a Senior Initiative Associate with the US Household Finance Initiative, a research initiative of Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) that focuses on developing and testing financial products and services for low income households in the US. Ms. Cash holds a B.A. in Sociology and Latin American Studies and an International Relations certificate from Wesleyan University. She has previously worked in micro-entrepreneurship training in Ecuador.

Joseph Coleman and Thiara Falcon from RiteCheck will discuss the Cash and Stash pilot. Mr. Coleman serves as the President of RiteCheck, and Ms. Falcon is the manager of the Cash and Stash program. Mr. Coleman is a financial industry expert on the topics of providing financial services to unbanked and underbanked consumers, the role of Financial Service Centers, and financial industry alliances. Since 1994, RiteCheck has led the way in establishing an alliance between the check cashing and credit union industries in New York.

Kashf Foundation was the first specialized microfinance program in Pakistan established in 1999 to specifically target women from low income communities. Kashf focuses on enhancing the role that women can play in improving the economic status of their families by building their entrepreneurship skills through access to business loans, improving financial management skills and reducing family level contingencies by providing micro-insurance services.

She is a serial social entrepreneur and world leader in global supplier diversity and inclusion. Ms. Vazquez is the co-author of the book, “Buying for Impact: How to Buy from Women and Change Our World.” The book includes information on women business owners and ways to support and leverage their potential to create a more sustainable and inclusive global economy. Anna Falth is the Manager of the Knowledge Gateway for Women's Economic Empowerment at UN Women, launching during the UN General Assembly in September last year. Ms. Falth has over seventeen years working on women’s economic empowerment issues. Starting in the refugee and immigration service in Sweden, Ms. Falth supported families with economic assistance and safety and integration issues. In the European Commission, she promoted integration of gender perspectives into large development programmes in Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific. |

This one-hour film documents the stories of women in a small village over several years as they use their Grameen loans to work for themselves. Following the screening, we heard from Pablo Farias MD, CEO of Grameen PrimaCare, on how his organization works with Grameen clients in NYC.
